Stage 2 Water Restrictions

Pipeline Direct – Extra

August 23, 2023

Mandatory Stage Two Water Restrictions

Due to high consumer usage, higher than normal temperatures, and water main breaks (due to dry soils) the city is at risk of losing water pressure that could lead to a boil water notice. The City of Grand Prairie has enacted mandatory Stage 2 water restrictions to help manage the use of our water supply effective August 23, 2023 until our water system can recover from drought conditions.

Restrictions are as follows and can be found at gptx.org/waterwise:

  • No watering on Tues., Wed., Thurs, Sat. and Sun. The gap in watering allows the city’s water storage tanks to recover.

Based on the last digit of your address:

  • Even numbered addresses water on Mondays
  • Odd numbered addresses water on Fridays
  • On your watering day, avoid outdoor watering between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m.
  • Foundations and new plantings may be watered using handheld and soaker hoses for up to two hours any day of the week.

Water violations may be reported in one of the following ways:

Current Water Restrictions

The goal of water restrictions is to conserve the city’s water resources until drought conditions improve and the city water system has recovered to normal operating conditions.

Water restrictions are categorized as Stage 1 and Stage 2.

The City of Grand Prairie is currently under Stage 1 restrictions and we are nearing Stage 2.  Your help is needed to conserve our water supply.

Trespassing at the Pool

As the timestamp indicates, these three young men entered the pool enclosure around 3 AM this morning, and decided to move the picnic table seen next to them  to the front near the gate. They also used the ladies bathroom and left a present.

As soon as we can identify these 3 individuals, they will be banned from the pool indefinitely.

If any of you know who these guys are, please let us know using a comment to this post.

The Pool will open today at 1 PM

We have been operating on bad information which led us to believe we had to have the Inspector approve us to open, but after calling and speaking with the Manager of Environmental Services, I was informed we did not have to wait for the Inspector to open the pool. They will simply show up unannounced, as they have always done.

Somehow, whoever we spoke with previously at this same department gave us bogus information, which has now been cleared up.
