For the past month, we have had a new landscaping contractor, Metroscape. They have been mowing Common areas/easements and trimming the shrubs on Saturday as they are trying to rearrange their schedules with other clients to get people here during the week. For now, Saturday is the only time they can take care of the subdivision.
We have gotten a number of calls from homeowners about grass clippings ending up under their carports or front porches. Since these are private property, the landscaping crews will not enter it to remove clippings; this is to avoid a trespassing situation. We ask homeowners to please sweep out whatever clipping may end up under your carports.
I have asked the landscaping contractor to keep it to a minimum, but the leaf blowers are not very precise instruments.
The old lawn crew did NOT make a mess on the driveways and carports. The new people should not be making a mess on private property and if they do, then they should be required to clean it up. I personally, do not have the time or inclination to sweep my carport and driveway every week. This should NOT even be an issue, if they make a mess, they clean it up. Also, they are blowing grass up on the back of my car which does not make me happy either. They could always just sweep the clippings up instead of blowing them. Blowers are ineffective. They only move the mess from one place to another and do not really accomplish anything.
Linda,
You just hit the nail upon the head; your carport is Private Property and the new landscape crew will not go onto private property because of trespassing issues.
In addition, the “old” crew” consisted of 1 or 2 people and they took many days/weeks to cover all 22 acres of this subdivision. While I do understand your position, there is no way the new company with 6-10 people here on one or 2 days can stop and sweep all 416 carports. It is cost prohibitive for us and for them.
I am working with their General Manager to resolve these issues as they become accustomed to our needs.
Linda, I wanted to add something to me previous reply. I have resided here for over 30 years and having an end unit; every piece of trash, lawn clipping, paper plate and empty chip bags ends up under my carport. It’s the same with leaves in the fall from trees that are not mine. And the “old lawn crew” helped things along when they used their leaf blowers, so this is not a new event.
