Satellite Dishes and Common Areas

We do not allow Satellite dishes installed on HOA common property.  Since I have been on the Board, I have only seen this maybe one other time, where a dish was mounted in common property, and when asked why they did it, I was asked “where else should we put it?”  Well, definitely not on HOA property, for sure.

The dish below is sitting on a mounting plate which is resting on the ground and held in place with 4 concrete blocks.

I followed the cable to see where it went, and that homeowner will be getting a letter. Why anyone, including a satellite installer, would believe this is acceptable is beyond me. The Declaration (CC&R) definitely prohibits this.

Cable TV Installations

158290636_175-outdoor-cable-rg6-tv-wire-burial-underground-uvAs a reminder to all, cable TV installations must have the cable buried. Many of these installations are done by subcontractors who apparently never complete the burial process for the cables. Maybe they are supposed to have another contractor come back and bury them; doesn’t matter, they must get buried or they will be cut by the mowers. We have contacted Time-Warner plenty of times to have these cables buried but have been met with an “I don’t care” attitude.

There are far too many cables running across the common areas, across sidewalks, etc.. Yesterday, one of our mowers severed 2 cables in 2 different areas that were sticking up high enough to get into the blades.  If you have a cable TV installed where your cable run on top of the common area to your house, please call the cable company and have them bury the cable.

A Recent Cable Install

I saw 2 trucks last Saturday, installing cable to a property on the East side. I noticed they both left and did not pick up the empty spool and just left it on the grass next to the house.  What bothers me more than an empty spool is how they did this install. (See the photos below)  This cable runs across 2 sidewalks leading to someone’s front door…. Time Warner has a really bad habit of these types of install; we have been trying to get them to bury cables for the past 2 years, cables that also run across common property and across sidewalks.
