Barbara Eden, long time and valued employee of the HOA, has passed away following a hospital stay. We were informed about her death yesterday. Ms. Eden was the Office Manager for over 20 years.

We had a resident come in this morning and ask why they could not use clear trash bags for trash. The front of the box of clear trash bags showed pictures of these bags filled with leaves and with empty water bottles. The main problem with these bags is not that they are clear, it is that they are meant for leaves and light materials. They are not very thick and the seams are not well sealed. They are perfectly suitable for leaves; we do prefer a heavier gauge trash bag for general trash usage.
We have residents here who repeatedly load up the clear leaf-type bags with about 30 pounds of trash; the result is these bags tear open and we have to clean up the streets or the front of the compactor. This is why they were mentioned in the latest Notice sent out to all addresses. This same phrasing has been used in the previous Notice sent out in November 2105, which said:
Please do not use clear leaf bags for trash; they are made for leaves and will tear open if used for trash. Regular trash bags are preferred, tied/secured properly. Contractor bags are too big.
The April 2016 Notice that just went out says exactly the same thing as in November 2015. It asks to please not use clear leaf bags. It does not prohibit the use of clear leaf bags as such.
I saw 2 trucks last Saturday, installing cable to a property on the East side. I noticed they both left and did not pick up the empty spool and just left it on the grass next to the house. What bothers me more than an empty spool is how they did this install. (See the photos below) This cable runs across 2 sidewalks leading to someone’s front door…. Time Warner has a really bad habit of these types of install; we have been trying to get them to bury cables for the past 2 years, cables that also run across common property and across sidewalks.
We had a report today of someone going door to door around East Mountain Lane telling people that they work for the HOA and were there to clean or check out the A/C ducts inside the property. The homeowner did not believe this story and as soon as the homeowner said they were calling the HOA Office, this person hastily left. We did call the Police and they contacted the homeowner for more details. We do not do work on the inside of the townhouses and we certainly do not work on A/C ducts.
We have also had some reports of individuals walking around the subdivision checking to see if cars are locked or not.
If you see suspicious people wandering around the subdivision, please call the Police!
The CC&R prohibits satellite dishes “unless completely contained within the dwelling on the Lot so as not to be visible from outside the dwelling”. Although that rule was written a long time ago when dishes were about 8 feet across, it is still technically a violation of the CC&R. We have a new dish installed around every other every day on property, despite the old rule. There is also a rule that you need to get permission to add anything that was not there when you bought the home itself. Just a reminder….
If you look at the photo below, not only is this dish prominently displayed but the wire runs across the roof, down the wall and into a hole in the brick. This is but one example; there are many others around the subdivision. We also have cable TV installations where they run their cables along the fences, or across our common areas (sidewalks) creating a trip hazard. Time-Warner has been contacted but seem to care less about it as long as they get their money. They are supposed to bury these cables.
TV and Phone installs should be ran through the attics, not over the roof and along gutters or soffets. If your townhouse has one of these slipshod installs, please contact your provider and get these wires cleaned up.
There is break in a water line that will require the main supply to be shut off to most of East Mountain Creek Drive. We will have the water back on as soon as repairs are completed.
The Office will close at Noon today.
