UPDATE – 2020 Annual Membership Meeting Postponed

The Board has decided to postpone the Annual meeting (March 27) and the April 2nd regular Board meeting due to the current situation with state, county and city closures.  The next scheduled meeting is on June 4th and hopefully normalcy will return by then. If not, we will keep you advised.

We will be placing notices on each property early next week so everyone is aware of the postponement.

City of Grand Prairie officials have been working closely with state and county agencies to implement protocols that will slow the spread of the Coronavirus (COVID-19).
Essential city services remain open.
Most Parks, Arts and Recreation facilities and city events are closed or postponed until May 10, 2020.

Grand Prairie COVID-19 Closings

March 16, 2020: Mayor Ron Jensen has issued a proclamation declaring a local state of disaster and, operating under the Order of Dallas County regarding COVID-19, in order to help slow the spread of the virus, the city of Grand Prairie will:

  • Close the Summit Active Adult Center March 14 for two weeks or longer; nutrition program meals will be offered in a modified manner while the center is closed
  • Close The Epic March 14-22
  • Close Recreation CentersKirby Creek Natatorium March 14-March 23
  • The Ruthe Jackson Center and Uptown Theater will review events on a case-by-case basis and cancel or reschedule, as needed, in accordance with the Dallas County Order
  • Close EpicWaters March 16-20, no pre-sale tickets
  • Close Grand Prairie Libraries March 14-22. Use our Virtual Library online, or Main and Warmack are offering Curbside Service and will bring your book-on-hold out to you. See www.gptx.org/library for details.
  • Close Veterans Event Center March 14-29
  • Close PlayGrand Adventures March 14-22
  • Postpone Mayor’s 5K No Frills & 1 Mile Chase the Chiefs
  • Cancel Main Street Fest, which had been scheduled for April 17-19
  • Cancel Easter Eggstravaganza, which had been scheduled for Saturday, April 11
  • Cancel Egg Swim, which had been scheduled for Saturday, April 11
  • Cancel Mayor’s Community Table scheduled for Thursday, April 30

City of Grand Prairie Executed Gathering Order

The City of Grand Prairie Emergency Management Director issued an Executed Gathering Order effective as of Friday, March 13, 2020 and continuing until 11:00 a.m. on March 20, 2020.

Declaration of Local Disaster for Public Health Emergency

The Dallas County Order is effective from 11 a.m. March 13 to 11 a.m. March 20 and may be extended if necessary.  The order:

  • Prohibits community gatherings of 500 persons or more
  • Strongly recommends canceling, rescheduling, or not attending events with more than 250 persons
  • Strongly recommends cancelling gatherings of more than 10 high risk people

Inquiries from the general public may be made to 972-692-2780 between the hours of 9:00 AM – 8:00 PM, Monday – Friday. For information about testing, please call your doctor and/or access care the way you usually do. If you need help finding a doctor or accessing medical care, call 2-1-1 and they can direct you to low or no cost providers in your area.

West Townhouse Repairs

West Townhouse Lane is now open following repairs done by the City following a major water leak a few weeks ago.

As you can see from the photos below, the City has replaced a large area of the street with concrete, including the water drainage channel like it had before.
