If you get a call from the IRS, here&#8217;s what you should do:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>If you think or know you might owe taxes, call the IRS @ 1-800-829-1040. The IRS can help you with a payment issue, IF THERE IS SUCH AN ISSUE.<\/li>\n<li>If you know you don&#8217;t owe taxes and the caller is making bogus threats, then call and report the incident to the Treasury Inspector General @ 1-800-366-4484. Try and capture the phone number the scammer is calling from.<\/li>\n<li>You can also file a complaint using; <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ftccomplaintassistant.gov\/#crnt&amp;panel1-1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">https:\/\/www.ftccomplaintassistant.gov\/#crnt&amp;panel1-1<\/a>. At the top of the home page there is an &#8220;ALERT! Click here to report someone falsely claiming to be from the government&#8230;&#8221;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The IRS will always send taxpayers a written notification of any tax due via the U.S. mail.
