In recent months, we have gotten reports from residents of individuals getting into their mailboxes and rummaging through their mail. Just yesterday, we were told that one resident had their new bank debit card taken and used the same day. I am guessing the people doing this are the same ones who check car door handles to see if they are unlocked.\u00a0 (Please report suspicious people on our property to the Police immediately!)<\/p>\n
While it is nice for our residents to let us know about these problems, the best way to deal with them is to report postal theft or tampering to the USPS. Taking items from someone’s mailbox is a Federal crime, so the appropriate agency needs to be brought in to address this issue.<\/p>\n
