This totally wasteful and is not allowed during the restrictions.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h1>Current Water Restrictions<\/h1>\n<\/header>\n<\/div>\n<div id=\"ColumnUserControl4\" class=\"column   has_small_col  \">\n<div id=\"widget_225_4392_2846\" class=\"content_area normal_content_area clearfix \">\n<p>To keep the city\u2019s water supply at a safe level and to comply with the city\u2019s whole sale water purchase contracts, <strong><em>the following restrictions apply at all times<\/em><\/strong>:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong><em>No<\/em><\/strong> watering between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m.<\/li>\n<li><strong><em>No<\/em><\/strong> watering on Wednesday, Saturday or Sunday.<\/li>\n<li>Even numbered addresses may water on Mondays and Thursdays.<\/li>\n<li>Odd numbered addresses may water on Tuesday and Fridays.<\/li>\n<li>When watering, a constant stream of water should not be allowed to flow into the street drainage.<\/li>\n<li>Watering during precipitation is prohibited. Rain sensors are required on newer watering systems.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Allowed:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Handheld and soaker hoses are allowed to be used any time.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Drought Contingency Plan (Emergency Water Use Plan) Information:<\/h2>\n<p>The <a href=\"http:\/\/www.gptx.org\/city-government\/city-departments\/public-works\/water-service-water-bill\/water-smart\/drought-contingency-plan\"><strong>Drought Contingency Plan<\/strong><\/a> may, depending on need, also prohibit <em>all or some of the following non-essential uses<\/em> (water use that does not directly benefit or maintain health, personal cleanliness, or firefighting purposes):<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Irrigation of landscape areas, including parks, athletic fields, and golf courses, except otherwise provided under this Plan;<\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Use of water to wash any motor vehicle, motorbike, boat, trailer, airplane or other vehicle; except as otherwise provided under this plan.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Use of water to wash down any sidewalks, walkways, driveways, parking lots, tennis courts, or other hard-surfaced areas;<\/span><\/li>\n<li>Use of water to wash down buildings or structures for purposes other than immediate fire protection;<\/li>\n<li>Flushing gutters or permitting water to run in any gutter or street, except as part of water quality management to flush stagnant water or enhance disinfection residuals;<\/li>\n<li>Use of water to fill, refill, or add to any indoor or outdoor swimming pools or Jacuzzi-type pools;<\/li>\n<li>Use of water in a fountain or pond for aesthetic or scenic purposes except where necessary to support aquatic life;<\/li>\n<li>Failure to repair a leak(s) within a reasonable period after having been given notice directing the repair of such leak(s) and;<\/li>\n<li>Use of water from hydrants for construction purposes or any other purposes other than fire fighting.<\/li>\n<li>Use of water from public drinking supply for gas well operations including fracturing and drilling<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>For more information, call 972-237-8377 or 972-237-8154.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>As a reminder, the City of Grand Prairie still has water restrictions in force.\u00a0 We still have residents hosing off their carports and allowing water to run down the street and onto adjacent streets.
