Rocks on Pool Cover

Sometime last night, someone decided to throw rocks onto the pool cover, perhaps to damage it. The cover we have runs around $4,000 to replace and is designed to support the weight of an adult and prevent drowning. That’s why the pool is covered in the off season, to protect people.

These rocks and pieces of concrete had fairly sharp edges. The cover is mesh and could have been damaged to the point it would rip if someone were to fall into it. As most of you remember, we do have people jumping the pool fence from time to time. The cover is there for safety.

If anyone saw someone throwing rocks onto the pool cover, please let us know.

These were removed from the pool cover

Recent Pool Intrusions

Over the past few weeks, we have had 2 instances of people jumping the fence in the early morning hours and availing themselves of our pool.

The most recent event happened just after midnight today, with 4 young African-Americans consisting of 2 males and 2 females. They were in the pool for over an hour based on the time stamps and then changed their clothes in the restrooms before jumping the fence again to leave.

They turned on the bathroom lights before they entered them which got us a much better look at them. They did not act very concerned about the HD video cameras.  Judging from some of the placements of chairs and other items, they jumped the fence a week or so ago.  Once we identify these individuals, they will be banned from the pool for climbing over the fence, and we will be filing a trespass warning on them.

If you see anyone using the pool after normal hours, please call the Police.

Pool Sidewalk and Wall

We have had issues with the recent rain causing dirt to wash down the incline onto the pool deck area. You can see a mark on the deck where the dirt usually sat. So, to alleviate this problem, we added in a retaining wall to stop the erosion and loss of soil. While we were there, we added in a sidewalk between the pool deck and the rear BBQ area. Previously, people had to walk past the Women’s restroom to get to the rear area.

We are fortunate to have acquired maintenance staff members over the years who have a wide variety of experience and can do these projects so we can reduce costs, as opposed to hiring subcontracting companies to do them. The last major sewer repair, requiring a back hoe and a lot of man-hours, would have cost the HOA over $10,000; we spent around $1500 including equipment rental and labor. This is one example; we did 5 similar repairs in the past 4 or 5 months, using our people to do them. The same is true of water line repairs and so much more.
