Recent Vandalism on the West Side

We have had a report of vandalism on the West side of the property, where a homeowner’s vehicle has been targeted a few times.  We have contacted the Grand Prairie Police and have requested periodic patrols throughout both sides of the subdivision. The main problem we have is that we cannot control who does or does not drive through the property; while our subdivision is Private Property and is fully marked as such, it is often used for a shortcut or for people to park off of the beaten path to do whatever it is that they do.

Short of adding our own paid Security patrol, something that could result in a dues increase or a special assessment, all we can do at the moment is ask all of our homeowners to report suspicious activity to the Police. This would include loitering, frequent short-term visitors to the same property and other obviously dubious activities.

This is our home and we all need to get involved.

Why Do People Do This????

Someone drove the entire length of East Mountain Creek Drive, and stopped in front of #32.

Just a reminder: The grass is not for driving on. That’s why we have streets.  There is absolutely no acceptable reason  for someone to damage Association owned property like this; none at all.

Judging by the trash in our Visitor lots and strewn about the area, no one cares what this place looks like. Trash is bad enough, but damage to our common areas is disrespectful and illegal.

Now we have to spend money to fix this as well as the other 5 or 6 places people decided to cut across the grass. If you see someone driving on the grass, get a description of the vehicle, the license plate, and please call the Office. We need to prosecute those responsible for tearing up our common areas.

Illegal Dumping on the West Side, Again

Dump site

We have what appears to be a repeat of recent illegal dumping, and perhaps the same individual doing it.  It was reported to the City Code Enforcement office and they will be out today to have a look at the site. The location of recent dumping is along the woods on West Townhouse Lane. The offending vehicle was a white F-150 pickup, and a resident did get the license plate. According to the city employee we spoke with, the plate comes back to a pickup from the Cedar Hill or Desoto area.

If anyone has surveillance video of the junction of West Townhouse/West Mountain Creek Drive or saw this vehicle dumping on private property, please call the Office.

Unsupervised Children

I was told today that two boys, maybe 10 or 11 years old, were trying to pry off the cover of a phone junction box on the side of a building located on E Mountain Creek Drive. Why they wanted to do this is known only to themselves. An adult stopped them or no telling what damages they could do.

Let’s keep an eye on the area to help prevent vandalism by anyone, including kids.

Please Keep An Eye On Your Children

We have had several instances over the past few months of children coming home from school and repeatedly throwing their trash in our Common Areas, as they walk from the bus stops to their homes. We end up having to pick up this trash, all at homeowners expense.  Please ask your children to be more responsible and keep our subdivision looking good and not like a large trash can.

In addition to this, a group of children recently ripped off 3 or 4 limbs from a Crepe Myrtle tree in the common area near E Mountain Creek Court. We cannot have our resident’s children purposefully destroying our common areas. Below are some photos:

Someone is Damaging Our Security Lights

As you can see, this light has been purposefully damaged.  For the light to be angled like this, basketball or similar object was thrown at it to skew it in this manner.  This same light fixture has been replaced several times, paid for by your dues. It doesn’t take long for the glass globe around the bulb has been shot off and the fixture vandalized and inoperable, as it is now.

We have no idea who is doing this, but if you see anyone damaging or vandalizing any Association property, please call the office and let us know.
