Month: June 2018

Pool is Open

The Pool will open today at 11 AM. We will be open on Thursday, this week only, to make up for being closed over the weekend.  We then go back  to the usual schedule of being closed on trash days, Monday and Thursday,

Property Insurance Info Required

We still have a large number of homeowners who have not provided us with their current insurance information.  We need a copy of your insurance renewal each and every year.

Just telling us it renewed is insufficient and does not fulfill your requirement to provide proof of cost to replace insurance.

We will be sending out postcards like the one shown within the next week or so. We have fined those who do not provide the required information and will do so again, as a violation of the CC&R.

These fines can be expensive and can result in a lien on your property if left unpaid.

This is easily avoided by providing us a copy of the Declaration page showing the coverage year.

Pool Closed

The Pool will be closed until further notice due to a mechanical problem with the sand filter. The bypass valve is leaking badly and allowing water to bypass into the drains, instead of through the filters. There is enough water being bypassed that we cannot refill the pool fast enough. We do not want to burn out the 2 pumps, which cost about $1,200 each.

We hope to get the parts required to fix the valve on Monday. We will keep you advised.

GP Water Restrictions Are Still In Effect

To keep the city’s water supply at a safe level and to comply with the city’s whole sale water purchase contracts, the following restrictions apply at all times:

  • No watering between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m.
  • No watering on Wednesday, Saturday or Sunday.
  • Even numbered addresses may water on Mondays and Thursdays.
  • Odd numbered addresses may water on Tuesday and Fridays.
  • When watering, a constant stream of water should not be allowed to flow into the street drainage.
  • Watering during precipitation is prohibited. Rain sensors are required on newer watering systems.

Allowed:

  • Handheld and soaker hoses are allowed to be used any time.

“Flushable” Wipes in our Sewers

We have posted this before but we still have people flushing these wipes (and other stuff that has no business being flushed) which results in the sewer line being blocked. We come out to unblock the line and pull up all kinds of products.  Below is a post from the City of GP’s website. These wipes also cause a lot of problems at the waste treatment plant.

Keep Wipes Out of City Wastewater System

Do you use wet wipes that claim they are flushable? These wipes are actually not flushable and can cause harm to plumbing and wastewater systems because they do not disintegrate after flushing. Instead, they wrap around other flushed wipes and debris, damage pumps at the wastewater plant, and have to be removed from wastewater screens and lift stations.

Wipes also create clogs in main wastewater lines and customer lines that have to be manually removed because fats, oil and grease deposit on them.

Toilet paper disintegrates almost immediately, but the strong-fiber wipes cause havoc in city wastewater lines and at wastewater plants.

When using flushable wipes, please throw them into the trash, and do not flush them down the toilet. This keeps the wastewater lines clear and helps avoid costly clog removal at your home and the wastewater plant.

If we find a sewer blockage at your property caused by flushing wet wipes, paper towels, diapers or other such items, we will bill you for our time and trouble.
