Suspicious bags on West Side

On Friday morning, we found 2 bags near West Creek Lane, and one of them contained drug paraphernalia. We did turn these bags over to the Police.

We are posting this because these bags were found within 20-30 feet of where kids wait for the school bus to pick them up and some child might have explored these bags and gotten poked by the syringe in it.

Please advise your kids about finding strange items on property. We have had uncapped syringes found on common property on the West side his year. If your kids do find something suspicious, advise them to leave it alone and call the Police.

Suspicious Persons/Vehicles

Last week, we have several suspicious vehicles parked on property, on both sides of the subdivision.  In one case, a man was sleeping in his car on the West side, backed in, and no plate displayed. So, we called the Police to come check him out. It is not the first time someone has been sleeping in a car in one of our visitor lots.  In other cases, they had drugs with them and were arrested. This last case, he was contacted by PD and was supposedly visiting someone here.

More recently, there was a car parked on the East side, occupied 4 times, and they were also backed in. I tend to notice backed in cars more, especially when there is no front plate or registration visible. It was rather obvious that these 4 young men were smoking weed, the smell kinda gave it away. They appeared to be high school age and I did call the Police to check them out. They left shortly before the officer arrived but I did get them a description of the vehicle and occupants.

I am advising our residents of this issue because our 22 acre subdivision is private property and some folks who do not reside here use it sell or use drugs, drop off stolen cars and have sex in cars.  Since we are off the main city streets, they think they are invisible here. If you see someone wandering around property or a vehicle that just does not look right, please call GPPD on the non-emergency number, 972-237-8790 and report any suspicious activity. I have requested GPPD to increase patrols through the property.

Be Aware

We have been getting reports of several young men wandering both sides of the property, and checking car doors and back gates. This usually indicates they are trying to steal something. I just heard we had a break-in on the East side yesterday and I would not be surprised if it was these guys.

The description I was given was these are 3 or 4 young Black men, sometimes together or individually , wearing some red either on wrists or around the neck, and usually wearing a hoodie with the hood up. In this heat, that should cause someone seeing this to wonder what they are up to. That is not normal behavior.

Please let the GP Police know if you see these guys and their activities seem suspicious. Someone here certainly has seen them on property.

More Syringes Found on West Side

We found another uncapped syringe in front of the Office yesterday, in the parking lot. The needle was exposed; there is no telling what was in the syringe. I have notified the GP Police about these syringes and they seem to have added some patrols here.

However, this subdivision is our home and this is our community.

We all need to get more involved in making it a safe place to live by calling in when we see suspicious activities. Many folks know they can sit off somewhere on property and not be readily seen from the main roads. We see them several times a week; I call the Police to check them out and a few trespassers have been arrested for a variety of things.

Report suspicious cars and/or people wandering around that you do not know to the GPPD Non-emergency number   972-237-8790

“AT&T Courtesy Representatives” on Property

I am hearing from several sources that there are 2 young men, maybe in their mid-twenties, ringing door bells and stating they are with AT&T and will telling homeowners that AT&T will be installing fiber optics on our property. I was also told they were trying to enter houses, which there is no reason for that at all. I have also seen these people on the East side, latest reports are from the West side.

If these guys will not identify themselves properly or allow you to call their supervisor and validate who they are, please call the Police and report it.

Suspicious Persons and Vehicles

Lately, we have been noticing people and vehicles which do not seem to belong on our property, but I am not talking about holiday visitors. Certain areas of the property are regularly used to park off of traveled roads and these people/vehicles come here to either drink or do illegal activities. We are also having mailboxes vandalized and packages being ransacked or stolen (not just here, but in the general area) and I wonder if these suspicious persons are responsible.

Please call the Grand Prairie PD and report suspicious people and/or vehicles that you see; the Non-Emergency number is 972-237-8790 or you can call 9-1-1.

If someone gets into your mailbox……

In recent months, we have gotten reports from residents of individuals getting into their mailboxes and rummaging through their mail. Just yesterday, we were told that one resident had their new bank debit card taken and used the same day. I am guessing the people doing this are the same ones who check car door handles to see if they are unlocked.  (Please report suspicious people on our property to the Police immediately!)

While it is nice for our residents to let us know about these problems, the best way to deal with them is to report postal theft or tampering to the USPS. Taking items from someone’s mailbox is a Federal crime, so the appropriate agency needs to be brought in to address this issue.

Lock your cars & report suspicious people!

We seem to be having another rash of people checking car door handles, sometimes under your own carport, to see if the car is unlocked.  This is happening on both sides of the property.  Someone that lives by me had her car burgled; a few items were taken but nothing of great value. These individuals seemed to be going down the street on both sides and checking cars. If you see errant people walking around day or night that just don’t look right, call the Police.

This is private property and if someone is uninvited, they are trespassing. This also applies to vehicles who use our visitor lots to hide and/or to do illegal things. We do have a no loitering policy here, so no one should be standing around or sitting in their cars for long periods. Please report suspicious vehicles!

The GPPD non-emergency number is 972 237 8700.  If you see someone breaking into a house or car, please call 911.
